At the end of July 2013 I headed down to Esbjerg, Denmark, to catch the ferry to Harwich, UK, for the last time as the route would be abandoned.
Took about 1.700 photos.
Arrived (30th) in Harwich, UK, and headed North to outside Richmond.
Continued North to Abington (31st), visiting Wanlockhead and Leadhills.
Quick visit (1st) to New Lanark to see mill.
Headed further North (2nd) through Glen Orchy enjoying views of Beinn Dorain, Rannoch Moor, Glen Coe and Buachaille Etive Mor, and finally Glen Nevis and Ben Nevis.
Enjoyed another day (3rd) in Glen Nevis.
Fulfilled another dream heading up Glen Roy (4th) to view the parallel roads and “threw away caution” and headed up gully of Glen Nevis to Steall Waterfall, finishing of the day enjoying the sun shining on Ben Nevis and surrounding hills (like Sgùrr a'Mhaim).
Headed even further North (6th) to Glenshiel to visit Dornan and Eilean Donan Castle and village of Plockton.
My first ever visit to Skye (7th) started at Eilean Donan Castle and then lead to (busy) Portree and Dunvegan - both “skipped” - and then headed back, enjoying Cuillin mountains.
A final push North (8th) to Inverness, viewed by foot, and a visit (9th) to Nairn.
Continues in part 2.
