Scotland '12

At the end of July 2012 I headed down to Esbjerg, Denmark, to catch the ferry to Harwich, UK, to meet up with my parents and brother at my aunt and uncle's, and then continue North into Scotland.

This year's theme turned out to become "trainspotter's vacation", with trip on Jacobite Express, and visit to and trip on North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Headed west to Fort William for a visit (14th) to Mallaig, Morar, Traigh Beach, Polnish Chapel, Glenfinnan, Corpach, and Fort William's station.

Trip North to Fort Augustus and Urquhart Castle, stopping of at Bridge of Oich - and its suspension bridge.

A dream was fulfilled (16th) - I got a ticket on Jacobite Express from Fort William to Mallaig, passing over the "Harry Potter Viaduct" (Glenfinnan Viaduct) and passing impressive lakes! (500+ photos taken!) Day was finished of by visiting a favourite glen - Glen Nevis.

Argyll and Bute

Heading South (17th), I stopped of in Barcaldine to visit Ballachulish, with its slate quarry, Glen Coe and wonder at Buachaille Etive Mor.

Connel with bridge and Falls of Lora, Loch Awe, and Castle Stalker were visited (19th).
